The frequent traveler is often plagued with hotel accommodations that are not quite adequate for cardio exercise. Typically, when this occurs, the only thing that can be done is to create a workout that requires very little space. It may sound impossible, but it can definitely be done. A hotel room workout does not need to be boring and static; it can in fact be fun, dynamic and heart pumping.
Creating a hotel room cardio workout requires little or no equipment. In fact, you can have a great workout using body resistance alone and a space of approximately 4’ by 6’.
The following basic workout can be completed in 25-30 minutes, and does not require special skill. Before attempting this or any exercise routine, please consult your physician.
The workout (each circuit is completed in its entirety with no break):
1. Jumping jacks – 5 Sets of 10
2. Burpees – 2 set of 10
3. Abdominal Crunches – 2 sets of 25
4. Burpees – 2 set of 10
Repeat the circuit once more.
*Burpees exercise description: Begin in a squat position with hands on the floor in front of you. Jump your feet back to a pushup position (plank). Complete a push-up. Immediately return your feet to the squat position. Leap up as high as possible from the squat position. You should keep a quick pace throughout.
